You can run the whole marathon, a half, or a relay team of three.
The start/finish line is on a cricket pitch in the middle of nowhere! The race village is here too. After each leg you will run a lap of the cricket pitch. You can move your legs in time to the music from our DJ or high-five the spectators, who will be there to cheer you on.
You will be able to smell the delicious all-day food from Rivendell and imagine what you will eat when you finish your race. You might be able to grab a delicious sample from another food stand. Then you can wash it down with a tasting glass of wine from Rivendell, Rosily Vineyards, Cape Grace or Happs.
After you have done the second lap you will be ready for another taste of sumptuous food. You can try a different wine this time, or you can delight and confuse your taste buds by tasting them all in the one lap. You can bop your way around the cricket pitch and run in time to the music.
How do you like your marathons?
Interesting things to look at?
Sample local produce along the way?
If you answered yes to any one of these, we have the marathon for you – the Maramoo! The inaugural event was held in 2016, and the 2017 event has been set for Saturday 9 September – save the date, and spread the word!
When you enter the cricket pitch for the last time, you can wave at all the spectators who are congratulating you for a race run well. You will, of course, be thinking of the party you can now have with them all – groove to the music, enjoy the taste sensations when you have lunch at the Rivendell marquee and get yourself a glass of wine from one of our wine partners.
The whole day will be one big carnival! There’s plenty of parking, so bring your skipper so you can try everything on offer.
Check the location page and see what you think!
If at all possible, run one or more of your long training runs on the race course. You’ll learn how to get there, where to park and what the site is like. Run over the last kilometre of the course at least twice.
